In a distant, alternative reality, the Earth was destroyed by a genetically engineered species bent on reforming life in their image. The humans were forced to migrate to a nearby planet known as Kvasir. With the mutants controlling the majority of the galaxy, including Kvasir, the mutants have tyrannized the people and divided them into factions across the planet. Flel and his father have lived on Kvasir their entire lives and have been able to thrive there until a recent upheaval caused by a rogue mutant. This caused a civil war, and many people fear for the future of Kvasir. Given special gifts, Flel and his fellow forerunners must embark on a quest to find a mysterious artifact that will change this path of time forever. The fate of the human species lies on their shoulders.
